Opera Unwrapped for Christmas returned to the beautiful Assembly House in Norwich on Sunday 2nd December 2018. This time, Into Opera’s team consisted of soprano Katie Bird, mezzo soprano Yvonne Howard and not one tenor but two… Jung Soo Yun and Gethin Lewis. The pianist was the exceptional Libby Burgess and the evening was hosted by our artistic director, Genevieve Raghu. This sell out concert included music by Puccini, Donizetti, Bernstein, Verdi, Handel and many more. Members of the Into Opera Youth Company also performed at the event, joining Gethin Lewis in a moving rendition of ‘O Holy Night’ and Yvonne Howard for ‘Deep in the Forest’ from Patrick Hawes’ children’s opera, A King’s Ransom.
Money raised from ticket sales, raffle tickets and donations on the night have all contributed to Into Opera continuing their commitment to developing empowering, imaginative and bespoke opera education activities and experiences in Norfolk.
Thanks to all who joined us at Opera Unwrapped for Christmas 2018 and special thanks to the Assembly House Trust and Anguish’s Educational Foundation for their continued support of our work.
