Norfolk Into Opera Festival 2019

An opera festival in Norfolk? This has not existed… until now. Into Opera are launching the Norfolk Into Opera Festival and bringing high quality, imaginative opera experiences to Norfolk with the aim of getting more people into opera.

Over time, we hope the Norfolk Into Opera Festival will become a growing, annual event that becomes embedded in the county. In 2019 our events will take place at the beautiful Octagon Barn in Norwich. In coming years, our events will stretch county wide. To audition for a principal role or our chorus for The Elixir of Love please send your CV to Genevieve Raghu the Artistic Director of Into Opera by 10am on Thursday 21st March. In your email, please indicate what you would like to be considered for and your audition availability. All applications should be sent to:

If you are invited for an audition, please come along having prepared three arias. In making your selection of repertoire, please include one aria in English and one aria by either Donizetti or Rossini. If you are auditioning for one of the leading roles, please also consider whether you could perform something for us in either Italian or English from L’elisir d’amore The Elixir of Love.

Please note:

The Elixir of Love will be performed in English in a newly adapted translation by David Parry.

We will have a small chorus of one person per part (soprano 1, soprano 2 (mezzo), tenor 1, tenor 2 & bass).

Members of our chorus will have the opportunity to perform as soloists for our concert Opera Unwrapped on Friday 9th August.

The role of Adina has already been cast.

The Elixir of Love will be performed with a reduced orchestra.

The majority of rehearsals will take place in London, some will take place in Norwich as the Into Opera Youth Company will also be involved in some scenes of the production.

All roles are paid. Travel and accommodation in Norfolk will also be supported and included.
